Most of us that have worked for large organizations could list hundreds, if not thousands of projects that we have worked on. Professional life is about projects and it's these projects that define our career. As Tom Peters remarked: "Wow Projects": projects that add value, projects that matter, projects that make a difference, projects that leave a legacy. Distinguished project work is the future of work -- for the simple reason that more than 90% of white-collar jobs are in jeopardy today. They are in the process of being transformed beyond identification -- or completely eliminated. Here is a small list of projects,
roles, and responsibilities that have defined my career over the years.
Currently, I am working with AT&T for the Evolving Technologies group which are rolling out Collaborative and Social Software applications to the enterprise. These applications include team collaboration, blogs, wikis, book marking, professional profiles, intranets, rss, as well as traditional Metadata repositories still in production. The area that I am most interested in is the deployment and mass adoption of these products in a large enterprise. Understanding what works and what doesn't. Additionally, I helping with the architecture for Wireless Networks, Office Productivity, and other collaborative environments.
AT&T Corporation
I joined AT&T when they purchased BellSouth in 2007. Since that time, I have
worked in the Evolving Technologies organization as a Sr. Technical Architect.
I currently has responsibility of 21 products from a architecture and governance
perspective. In the past, I owned the Sharepoint client-support
environment which was commented on by a Microsoft representative that this was
the best he had ever seen. In addition, my internal blog "Enterprise 2.0"
is the number one blog in the company. I continue to expand into other areas
such as cloud computing and social communications.

BellSouth
In late 1999, I moved from Cingular to BellSouth which proved to be a poor choice
in retrospect from a title and level perspective. Still, BellSouth was a
wonderful experience and a major jump in my career. One of the best know
accomplishments was the development and deployment of our Enterprise
Repositories. As we progressed in our development and experience, we added
online ordering, collaboration tools, and several others. For myself, I
gained a new perspective on ownership, leadership , and running my group as a
business.

Cingular
Cingular was looking for a AS/400 DBA and that looked like a great opportunity to
expand beyond the traditional development role. We focused on automating
the deployment and upgrade of a variety of applications where we reduced the
time from several days to hours.
- Enterprise Data Architect
- Installation and Deployment of Large Scale Applications
- Developer and System Analyst
Georgia Pacific Corporation
With my MBA in hand and 13 years of experience, I thought it was time I moved
into a management role. For some reason, the company gave me
responsibility of 45 people and a department heading downhill. We turned
it around in about 6 months with little fan fare. Our backlog dropped by
83% and our customer survey improved by 77%. I learned a lot about
leadership and management.

Coca-Cola Company
Almost six years as a consultant until ownership greed got in the way of 30
people's employment. We owned the back end communication system for the entire
organization. Not sure if consulting is the right word when you stay in
one place for six years but I met a lot of great people an dlearned a lot as
well.

The remaining organizations would simply add roles and responsibilities of long
