I Really Hate the Phrase High Potential

What does that mean anyway? Does this mean that I haven't done anything to date that would be considered High? Anything that I accomplished in the past is now long forgotten? Is it really potential when you have already done it? How is it that when I was hired, I was brought in on my accomplishments and skills but now it's all about what I haven't done? Sounds like my marriage.
