But, I Don't Need to Listen

Yep, here is another one. Another training class or podcast on how to be an effective listener. We have these in LwD, IT Essentials, and our leadership is stepping up to the plate to help us understand how to listen. One of the things people forget to ask is why are we so bad at listening? The reason I think is that we surround ourselves with things that enable us not to listen. Do I really need to attend every meeting when I can just read the meeting notes? Why do I need to listen to the teacher since I have Google and I can look up any information I need? We demand that our leadership make video casts so that we don't have to listen in the town hall. I can just replay the conversation when I need to on my iPod. We have created all of the media so that we don't have to read emails or listen to the mass levels of information coming at us.
