The one thought that really got my attention and made the light bulb go off was David Armano's comment on the "Culture of Rapid Response". The basic idea is that with these new social and collaborative tools, organizations can adapt and respond to situations with great speed and a sense of urgency. This goes totally goes against the plan it and they will come mentality of the old guard. David commented that:
Organizations will come to terms with the reality that although it is now cheaper to launch an institutive leveraging Web 2.0 technology, it requires qualified and passionate people to make them successful.
Wow, that is a mouthful and one of the most honest statements I have read in awhile. Yes, you need qualified and passionate people that can push through the corporate roadblocks and barriers that are put into place. The problem is that in the corporate world, we don't have very many qualified people and even fewer people with the passion to make things happen. Oh, there are plenty of folks who think that they are; just not so many that truly do.
