Why I Suck at Blogging...
Tuesday: April 8, 2008 11:27 AM
While I may not the world's worst blogger, here is a list of the things I do wrong.
1. Don't Post Enough: Let's face it with a job, publishing, research, a family, and a partridge in a pear tree; I simply don't have the time to sit down and put some real thought into my online journal. I should say, I choose not to invest the time since time is simply a matter of choice.
2. Don't Link Enough: Do I ever suck at linking to other blogs or even linking to other sources of information. I'm just being lazy so there is no real excuse since the essence of blogging is to assemble information from a variety of sources.
3. Don't Include Images: Once again, there is no excuse since I am a more visual person and graphics help communicate far better than words alone.
4. Stream of Conciseness: I am guilty of thinking my ideas have to be perfect and supported by others in the field. The reality is that if I simply talk about what I see then people will get a far greater insight into what it takes to succeed in Enterprise 2.0, Metadata, Personal Branding, etc.
5. Subject Specific: I tend to stick with my topic but there is really no reason for me not to comment about others areas or subjects. Politics anyone?
6. Comment on Other Blogs: Not sure what the percentage is but I should do better about adding comments or feedback to other blogs while contributing to mine. But I don't… It's not all about me...
7. Perfect Grammar: Not much to be said here, it's not my area of expertise but I do try to at least read what I write; once. Need to do a better job at fixing the codes that don't come across from Word very well.
8. Tag It: I shouldn't be tag challenged but I tend to use the same ones over and over again. Get some variety; everything can't be Web 2.0 or Enterprise 2.0.
9. Answer the Feedback: I should really do a better job at answering the feedback posted.
Ok, that's enough complaining about my poor blogging habits. I hope to improve..
