Strategy Review for Enterprise 2.0

Well, it’s the first of the year and now is an excellent time to review your Enterprise 2.0 strategy. If 2007 was your first year implementing then your metrics might not be the best place to start but the questions remain. What are your growth rates for the year? On your blog, how many people posted once a month? How many people posted once or twice and lost interest? What was the page view analysis? Now is a great time to review and analyze your performance in Enterprise 2.0. Once you have done that then ask a few more questions:

1. Were the right people involved? While you may have great performers on the team, do you have the right people engaged to take you to the next level. Remember, the brothers McDonalds didn’t; they needed Ray Kroc.

2. Do you have the right strategy in place? If so, is it clearly communicated across the organization? Remember, the biggest obstacle to communication is the illusion that it has actually happened.

3. Can you execute in 2008? Execute is about getting things done and making things happen. Maybe you need bigger clients like executive bloggers to get involved with the effort. Maybe you need more client-support to help people understand the value and give them the help when they need it. Or, maybe you need a strong leader that understand the business of collaboration and willing to step forward.

4. Were your process simple and easy to understand? What was your drop rate when in comes to engagement? When a person created a collaborative environment for the first time, did you follow up with some type of “Welcome Neighbor” basket like top ten uses of a Sharepoint, five tips to increase adoption of your environment, next training classes or people like you did x. Clearly, you don’t need to do this for someone creating their fifth environment but it’s a great idea for first timers.

The point is that while everyone is planning, now is a great time to review your strategy and make adjustments.
