Ok, some of us have way too much time on our hands, but… I reviewed technorati this evening some more to see what I could garner from the ranking and authority ratings. Remember, they track over 70 million weblogs so these numbers are amazing. If you have an authority rating of 1, then you will be ranked around 4 millionth which is in the top 5%. Todd, despite your technorati rating, your blog does not seem to be very popular by other indicators, average number of comments & trackbacks. I'm not saying it's not, I just don't put that much faith in technorati.
Thank you Gabo, not sure how motivational that comment was but you made my point anyway. The point was that 95% or perhaps 99% of the Weblogs out there are really just noise. Since the point of writing something down is to be read then a better measure would be the number of times an entry is consumed. This weblog averages in the four digit range on a daily basis which doesn’t come close to the big boys.
