Quick ROI for Enterprise 2.0
Everyone one wants a Return on Investment model for collaboration and social software. Just to let you know, there are hundreds of such models out there for traditional information technology type programs. One quick ROI is to replace business unit Intranets with collaborative software. This isn’t as obvious as it might seem to us since most people can’t separate from the command and control model of Intranet applications. Information Technology won’t really support this move since it reduces their “Cash Cow” but for the business unit this is a real opportunity. The business reasons for exchange a corporate wiki or shared collaborative tool like Sharepoint include centralized infrastructure, lower costs, faster speed to publish information, distributed information production, and the added functionality that comes with a robust tool. Simply put business unit can stop paying that $200,000 dollars for a couple of web developers and replace them with information producers, if at all.
