Biography
Dr. Todd Stephens is the Senior Technical Architect of the
Collaboration and Online Services for the AT&T Corporation. Todd
has served as the technical director since 1999 and is
responsible for setting the corporate strategy and architecture
for the development and implementation of the Enterprise
Metadata Repositories (knowledge stores), Online Ordering for
internal procurement, and the integration of Web 2.0
technologies utilizing Microsoft's SharePoint. For the past 25 years, Todd
has worked in the Information Technology field including
leadership positions at: at&t, BellSouth,
Cingular,
Georgia-Pacific,
The Coca-Cola Company, Southern Linen, Fannie
Mae Software Systems, Lummus Industries, and The Georgia
Company.
Between 2003 through 2007, Todd wrote a monthly column in DMReview and has delivered
keynotes, tutorials and educational sessions for a wide variety
of technology conferences around the world. Todd is a student of
organizations trying to get a handle on their internal knowledge
management- how they acquire, how they broker it, and how they
disseminate it through out the corporation. Having invested more than
seven years researching, deploying, and discussing these topics,
Todd understands that information has replaced physical assets
as the driver of value, leads him to believe that the management
of those information-based assets is critical to the future
growth of business. On this, Todd has been awarded
Seven U.S.
patents in the field of technology.
Todd holds degrees in Mathematics and Computer Science from
Columbus State University, an MBA degree from
Georgia State
University, and a Ph.D. in Information Systems from
Nova
Southeastern University. The majority of his research is focused
on Metadata Reuse, Repository Design, Enabling Trust within the
Internet, Usability and Repository Frameworks. In addition, Todd
has co-authored various books on Service Oriented Architectures,
Open Source, Virtual Environments, and Integrating Web 2.0
technologies.
Todd has also joined the Board of Directors for
mobile-ingenuity,
a Small Technology Firm in Atlanta, GA.

Current Role and Responsibilities
Currently, I am working with at&t for the Collaboration and
Online Services group which are rolling out Collaborative and
Social Software applications
to
the enterprise. These applications include team
collaboration, blogs, wikis, book marking, professional
profiles, intranets, rss, as well as traditional Metadata
repositories still in production. Our role has been in
existence since 1999 where we have focused on bringing
enterprise information management to the forefront. The
area that I am interested in is the deployment and mass adoption
of the products in a large enterprise.
